old sweaters find new purpose

One of my latest endeavors has been thinning out my stash of old sweaters and giving them new life.
My first project was to make them into baby jumpers. These fit a child from about 6 months until age 3 or so. Very sturdy and versatile, and a little bit funky, to boot.
My two babies to the left are both wearing the same size jumper. It actually only comes in one size. On my little one, it is a dress, on my eldest, it is a vest. Both are equally adorable, wouldn't you agree?
I have so far made 12. All are different. I am keeping one for my daughter, with a matching pair of pants (more an pants in another post) the rest are all for sale.
The first 3 I made where not lined, and most of the seams were serged. But I found that this caused too much misshaping, and looks too rough. So I revisited the pattern, and made them fully lined, and only serged the side seams. The resulting and final style is more refined, and also more sturdy. The front pockets are also lined with the sweater material, making them delightfully soft to reach into.
My favorite part of each piece are the buttons. I have always been a lover of buttons, and spent extra time and care picking the ones to use on these guys.
All final piece can be machine washed and dried, although I would suggest line drying for extended life and energy savings.
I currently have 4 of these listed on my Etsy site, and will also be selling them at the Nashelle Trunk show at the Nashelle warehouse in Bend Oregon on the 12th of November.
